Context
Ottogi is a leading South Korean food company with a long-standing brand presence in sauces, curry, spices, and ready-to-eat products. The brand is widely recognized for its accessibility, consistency, and everyday relevance in Korean households.
Role
Freelance Illustrator
Collaborated with the brand to develop illustration assets for a corporate calendar project.
Project Overview
Ottogi commissioned a series of illustrations for their 2022 brand calendar, with one digital illustration created for each month.
Each illustration highlighted a curated selection of Ottogi food and sauce products, aligning seasonal themes with everyday cooking culture.
Key Contributions
Developed 12 monthly illustrations reflecting Ottogi’s product lineup and brand tone. Translated brand values into a visual language inspired by traditional Korean folk art. Adapted illustration style for commercial print production, considering texture, color, and material constraints. Worked within an established brand framework while introducing a culturally rooted visual approach.
Visual & Material Considerations
Final artworks were printed on Hanji, a traditional Korean mulberry paper. Illustration style and color balance were adjusted to complement the texture and absorbency of the paper. Ensured consistency across all months while allowing seasonal variation.
Outcome
Delivered a cohesive calendar series that balanced heritage-inspired aesthetics with modern commercial branding.
Reinforced Ottogi’s brand image through culturally resonant visuals suitable for long-term print use.
